The Boston Public Library will continue its commemoration of the American Civil War and Massachusetts’ role in it with a talk on Wednesday, December 14 which will examine 20th Massachusetts Infantry Regiment. Often referred to as the "Harvard Regiment" – because of its socially-elite, Harvard-educated officers – the unit also earned the terrible, but accurate, informal title of the "Bloody 20th" through four years of intense combat during the Civil War. Peter Drummey, the Stephen T. Riley Librarian of the Massachusetts Historical Society in Boston, will look at the circumstances the regiment found itself in on this day – December 14 – during each year of the Civil War.
The talk is planned for 6 p.m. on Wednesday December 14 at the Central Library in Copley Square.
