Emerald Lounge and NY-based music-industry leader, Giant Step, will launch a weekly series of Tuesday listening parties featuring some of the best new releases from well-known and up-and-coming artists, acts and DJs.
These weekly listening parties will not only feature new and established artists but also acts that are coming through town, providing Bostonians the opportunity to preview new music before catching a live show at a local venue.
Kicking off the series will be singer-songwriter Jill Scott’s new remix album Crates: Remix Fundamentals Vol. 1 and Brooklyn based DJ Nickodemus’ brand new full-length Moon People. These weekly listening parties will feature things like specialty themed cocktails, artist trivia, concert tickets and other giveaways. The July 3rd kickoff event will also give listeners the chance to live like a rockstar (for a night) and enter-to-win an overnight stay in the 24th floor penthouse of Revere Hotel Boston Common.

Three-time Grammy-award winning singer-songwriter, New York Times Best-selling poet, and critically acclaimed actress are only a few titles held by Jill Scott.Crates: Remix Fundamentals Volume 1 (Spring Summer Feeling), the first of three remix volumes, is an eclectic collection of Jill Scott hits remixed and re-grooved by some of the music industry’s best DJ’s and Producer/Remixers. The centerpiece of Crates: Volume 1 is "Spring Summer Feeling - The Ron Trent Mix," a lush ten minute plus House music re-tooling of Jill Scott’s homage to Minnie Ripperton that will transport audiences’ poolside in Miami. Also on the album, fans will be treated to new versions of their favorite Jill Scott songs by Mr Mig (Beyoncé, Diddy, Kristine W), Ca$e Boogie (Young Money, Jamie Foxx), and Jaymes”Th3ree Fourteen” Ball (Trick Daddy, Maybach Music) among others.
Nickodemus has been touring as a DJ & collaborating with musicians all over the world since 1996. He has two albums called Endangered Species and Sun People as well as seven Turntables on the Hudson compilations to date. His sound is like a traveling circus that gets everyone's hips & feet moving! With Moon People, his twelve compositions bridge seemingly disparate worlds of American, Arabic, and Latin music within a modern context with ethereal vocals. The urban groove and down tempo beats are enough to surprise the fusion and electronic music fans. In his remix machine, Nickodemus has done mixes for a wide range of artists including: Billy Holiday, Nina Simone, Bebel Gilberto, Sultan Khan, Omar Farul Tekbilek, Thievery Corporation, Astor Piazzolla, The Pimps of Joytime & many more.
