Fenway Recording Sessions presents: Hozier / Covey

Born on St. Patrick’s Day and hailing from Ireland’s County Wicklow, Hozier was raised on the building blocks of popular music: rhythm and blues, soul, jazz, and all of the stuff stretching from Chicago to the Delta. He fronted his first soul band when he was 15-years-old, taught himself to play guitar and piano, and went to study music at Trinity College, where he played with the Trinity Orchestra, leading its forays into the world of classic rock.

Hozier dropped out in order to achieve a full-time focus on his creative process and has worked with assorted producers at various studios, but his musical identity has been forged in his simple attic studio—a place where Stevie Wonder and Billie Holiday are revered alongside James Joyce and Oscar Wilde.

Established in Boston in 2004, the Fenway Recordings Sessions is a regular concert series featuring a mix of established acts and the best new and developing indie artists playing in the city’s clubs, along with occasional special guest DJs.
