Fresh Prospects Presents LANDS, RickExpress, and Zilla

Fresh Prospects is a showcase of up-and-coming acts presented by the student booking agents that work at the Red Room at Cafe 939. This showcase will feature Berklee performers LANDS, RickExpress, and Zilla.

LANDS is a band of 10 Berklee students performing neo-soul and funk fusion. They approach music by understanding their relationship to it and to each other, thus bringing awareness to the music as a whole and exposing artistic beauty, contrast, and awe. LANDS is here for the people with the music they share, speaking of the common human bond through music rather than words. Sit back and enjoy.

Singer-songwriter RickExpress is also a composer, pianist, and recording artist. The youngest of his siblings and the only boy, RickExpress’s talent was discovered and harnessed at an early age. Today he studies music and perfects his work as a Berklee student. While his music lends itself to the neo-soul genre, he describes his sound as “soulful, moving, and ahead of the times.” RickExpress’s lyrics are in tune with real lives and real people, and this is what drives his expression. He has worked with many artists including Erykah Badu, Sinbad, Valerie Simpson, Sheila E., and Sam Smith, among others.

Zilla is an up-and-coming funk/rock band. With stacked harmonies, intricate vocal runs, and a groovy pocket, Zilla brings a unique sound to their original music. Currently based in Boston, this soulful group of Berklee students is a band to watch.
