Honoring Achievement

Top of the Hub’s Skywalk Observatory joined with The Boston Celtics to host the Celtics' 3rd Annual “Step Your Game Up” end-of-the-year celebration honoring the academic achievement of students in Boston Public Schools.

The program challenges students who are struggling with tardiness, absenteeism and failing grades to change their performance via personalized letters and contracts. Students were nominated by their respective schools, and selected for the event based on their levels of quantitative and qualitative improvement.

One hundred local students from 10 schools were welcomed to the party by (in photo above): retired Boston Celtics player Dana Barros; Top of the Hub General Manager Raphael Oliver;  City Year Director of School and Community Partnerships, Khoi Tau; “Step Your Game Up” program founder, Judy Pagliuca; Boston Celtics Forward Brandon Bass;  and Celtics Mascot, Lucky.

This year’s celebration featured a carnival theme with games, music and raffles.  A buffet was provided by the culinary team at Top of the Hub.  Executive Pastry Chef Tommy Choi created Celtic’s themed sugar cookies for dessert.

Raphael Oliver, General Manager of Top of the Hub and Skywalk Observatory, commented, “It is our pleasure to work with the Boston Celtics once again, this time to congratulate a group of hard-working Boston Public School students for academic achievement.”
