"Hubert Harrison 'The Father of Harlem Radicalism' & His Works with Boston Activists"

with author Dr. Jeffrey B. Perry on Sunday April 17th, 2016 at the Community Church of Boston.

Dr. Perry will discuss the life and work of St. Croix-born, Harlem-based, Hubert Harrison (1883-1927) "the father of Harlem radicalism." Topics covered will include Harrison's work as a writer, speaker, educator, and activist with special emphasis on his work with Boston activists in the periods of his founding of the first organization and newspaper of the militant "New Negro Movement" (1917), of his co-chairing (with William Monroe Trotter) the major Black protest effort during World War I (1918), and of his talks in Boston and writings for the "Boston Chronicle" in the period of the founding of his "International Colored Unity League" (1924).
