Joyce Moreno Meets Berklee
Thursday / December 10, 2015 / 8:00 p.m. Berklee Performance Center 136 Massachusetts Avenue, Boston, MA 02115

Called “one of the best singers of all time” by Antonio Carlos Jobim, Brazilian singer-songwriter Joyce Moreno is gifted guitarist and distinctive vocalist with an emphasis on the feminine first person in her lyrics. Her career started in the late 1960s, but it was with her 1980 album, Feminina, that she became widely known in Brazil. Moreno’s compositions have been featured in film soundtracks, animations, TV programs, and theatrical productions, and she has received four Latin Grammy nominations. Her most recent recording is Raiz.
In this concert, Moreno will perform her songbook with a large student ensemble, playing arrangements that she has specially chosen by students studying contemporary writing and production. The concert will be directed by Fernando Brandão, an associate professor in the Ensemble Department; John Stein, an associate professor in the Harmony Department; and Matthew Nicholl, chair of the Contemporary Writing and Production Department.
