Michael F. Chandler Named Executive Chef At Top of the Hub

Michael F. Chandler has been named Executive Chef at Top of the Hub restaurant. The announcement was made by Alan Donatelli, President and C.O.O. of Select Restaurants, Inc.

Located on the 52nd floor of The Prudential Tower in Boston’s historic Back Bay, Top of the Hub is celebrating more than 50 years of service to Boston’s discerning dining community.

Chef Michael brings more than two decades of experience to his new position. He will manage all kitchen operations and direct the full culinary team, serving both the iconic restaurant as well as all special events held in the Skywalk Observatory on the 50th floor of The Prudential Tower. Both properties are operated by Select Restaurants, Inc.

A native of Albany, New York, Chef Michael is a graduate of the French Culinary Institute in New York City. He previously earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Public Policy & Economics at the University at Albany, State University of New York.

His professional history includes positions as: Executive Chef, The Aquitaine Group, Boston; Executive Chef, Grill 23 & Bar, Boston; Executive Chef, Brasserie L’Oustau de Provence, Manchester Center, Vermont; Executive Sous Chef, The Mark Restaurant by Jean-Georges, New York City; Sous Chef, Mercer Kitchen by Jean-Georges, The Mercer Hotel, New York City; and Chef de Partie, Jean Georges, Trump International Hotel, New York City.

Following his service in the Marine Corps, he spent his apprenticeship at Le Restaurant de Fourviere in Lyon, France. Chandler paid his dues by peeling “about 100 pounds of root vegetables a day . . . At some point, they took an interest in me and let me work the various stations and learn. It was truly my formative culinary experience.”
