New York Woman Jailed for Stealing from One Fund Boston

Audrea Gause was sentenced to up to three years for stealing form the One Fund.

A woman who admitted to stealing $480,000 from the One Fund Boston has been sentenced to service up to three years in prison, the Boston Herald Reported Wednesday

A Suffolk Superior Court Judge sentenced Audrea Gause, 27, of Troy, New York to 2 and a half to three years at Massachusetts Correctional Institution in Framingham for stealing form the One Fund, which was established to assist victims and families affected by the 2013 Boston Marathon bombings, according to the report.

State Police arrested Gause on July 19 last year on a fugitive warrant in Troy, New York, and she was subsequently arraigned in Boston Municipal Court in August, held on $200,000 cash bail.

She was indicted by a Suffolk County Grand Jury last fall on charges of larceny of more than $250 and gross fraud in connection with collecting the money from the One Fund, claiming she suffered a traumatic brain injury as a result of the Boston Marathon Bombing.

An investigation by the office of Massachusetts Attorney General Martha Coakley found that Gause submitted a notarized claim to the One Fund in June of last year indicating she'd been hospitalized at Boston Medical Center and, later, Albany Medical Center.
