Old Man Canyon / Monogold at The Red Room @ Cafe 939

Saturday May 21st at 8PM Vancouver based band Old Man Canyon will be performing live at The Red Room @ Cafe 939 with opener Monogold.

Hailing from Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, Old Man Canyon is a band that originated from the efforts of frontman Jett Pace, who updated folk and indie-pop influences. His musical style is like that of Iron and Wine and Mumford and Sons moving into the electric format, and it's similar to the work of seminal folk rock pioneers including the legendary Neil Young and his Crazy Horse project.

Brooklyn, New York's Monogold has announced the band's first new release since their 2011 debut LP, The Softest Glow, which showcased the trio's brand of lush, dreamy pop. Their EP, This Bloom (2014), acted as a prelude to their upcoming full-length album, delivering six new tracks that feature layers of hazy, shimmering instrumentation, soaring vocals, and blissed-out melodies. Self-recorded and produced in Monogold's own studio, This Bloom finds the band mixing sleepy, serene dreamscapes with driving rhythms and memorable hooks for tracks that are both hypnotic and energized.

Admission: $10 in advance / $12 general admission
