The Boston Common Christmas tree was set aglow Thursday night, followed by the lighting of hundreds of trees along the Commonwealth Avenue Mall.
The official lighting of the Common Christmas tree Thursday drew a crowd of hundreds, the Boston Pops Gospel Choir, Canadian Royal Mounted Police, the Mayor and concluded with an impressive (if not slightly nerve-wracking) fireworks show.
Afterward, the crowd headed over to the to light the hundreds of trees lining the green strip through Back Bay.
