Considered a literary and historical retelling of Albert Camus’ celebrated novel,L’Étranger (The Stranger), Daoud’s Meursault, contre-enquête gained popularity and was awarded many prizes, including the Prix Goncourt du premier roman in 2015. The novel gives voice to the brother of the anonymous “Arab” killed by Camus’ main character, Meursault, and examines the seminal work in a post-colonial context.
This reading is taking place on the occasion of le Mois de la francophonie, which celebrates the richness of the wide-ranging cultures of the Francophone world.
