Steven Pinker and The Sense of Style

Steven Pinker presents his new book The Sense of Style: The Thinking Person’s Guide to Writing in the 21st Century (Penguin, 2015) as part of Emerson College’s Publishing Speakers series on September 29, 2016 at 6 p.m. at The Bill Bordy Theater (216 Tremont Street).

Pinker, a Harvard linguist and psychologist, is one of the world’s leading authorities on language and the mind. In The Sense of Style, he asks why is so much writing so bad, and how can we make it better? Is the English language being corrupted by texting and social media? Do the kids today even care about good writing? Why should any of us care?
