More than 65,000 people attended the 13th annual Berklee BeanTown Jazz Festival this weekend, sponsored by Natixis Global Asset Management, and stretching over six blocks along Columbus Avenue. The event featured free music, activities for children, and international food from local eateries. People of all ages mingled and danced to live jazz, funk, reggae, R&B, and soul music. The program featured Berklee students, faculty, and alumni, including Grammy Award winners and nominees Will Calhoun, Meshell Ndegeocello, and Christian Scott. Grammy Award-winning drummer and Berklee professor Terri Lyne Carrington was the festival's artistic director. Natixis President and Chief Executive Officer John Hailer provided a high point when he presented the Natixis-Berklee City Music Scholarship to Samuel Joseph, of Readville, to attend Berklee's Five-Week Summer Performance Program.
