The Berklee Indian Ensemble Presents “Shuruaat” – Clinton Cerejo Meets Berklee

Coming up on Tuesday, November 26th is Shuruaat – Clinton Cerejo Meets Berklee presented by the Berklee Indian Ensemble featuring the talented Clinton Cerejo, a versatile multi-instrumentalist, vocalist, arranger, composer, and producer of over 2,000 commercial jingles! Cerejo is highly sought in the booming Indian advertising and film industry for his signature Western-meets-Indian sound. His latest work is featured in Google India’s viral Google Search: Reunion advertisement, trending with its story of a reunion between Pakistani and Indian long-lost friends.

The concert features an expansive repertoire encompassing Indian classical, Quwali, folk, Indian rock, and Indo-jazz music from Cerejo’s catalogue as well as original compositions by Berklee students. Cerejo and the Berklee Indian Ensemble – with musicians from 34 countries and counting, directed by Indian Berklee alumnus and faculty member Annette Philip ’09 – will present the program in Hindi, Urdu, Sindhi, and Tamil.

Cerejo is the voice and composer behind several hit songs in blockbuster films. His very popular track “Madari,” composed for the MTV India series Coke Studio@MTV featuring Vishal Dadlani and Sonu Kakkar, went viral on YouTube reaching more than one million views.

Beyond Bollywood, Cerejo is the first Indian to arrange the vocals for Michael Bolton on an album featuring artists like Seal, Rascal Flatts, and Chris Botti, in addition to vocal arrangements for the Oscar-nominated song “If I Rise” from the film 127 Hours directed by Danny Boyle.
