Tom Brady Witnesses Boston Fire, Calls Firefighters 'Heroes'
Two firefighters were killed battling a nine-alarm fire in Back Bay Wednesday.
New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady witnessed Wednesday's nine-alarm fire that killed two firefighters in Back Bay.
Brady, who has a family home in the area, was captured in a Boston Herald photo watching firefighters battle the flames.
Boston fire Lt. Ed Walsh and Firefighter Michael Kennedy lost their lives. About 20 more firefighters and police officers were injured.
"On behalf of my entire family, I want to extend my deepest sympathies and condolences to the Boston Fire Department and the families of our brave and selfless firefighters who gave their lives for our protection and safety today, and to the entire firefighting community who protect us each and every day," Brady said in a statement. "All of you will be in our thoughts and prayers."
Brady then went on WEEI Thursday morning to express his condolences.
"We as athletes think that we're heroes, but when you witness firsthand what I saw yesterday, you realize who the real heroes are," Brady said.
