1 Dead After Weekend Sagamore Bridge Crash

A 19-year-old from Plymouth faces charges after the fatal crash. The victim has been ID'd, with one other person seriously injured.

PLYMOUTH, MA — A weekend crash on the Sagamore Bridge ended with the death of a Plymouth woman and serious injuries for another man. A 19-year-old faces charges.

Martha Sheldon, 79, of Plymouth, was the passenger of a vehicle that was hit by a car driver by Paul Myers, 19, of Plymouth, State Police officials said.

Myers was driving in the left lane when he attempted to pass by illegally shifting into the right lane. His car didn't have enough space, causing him to crash into a Toyota Corolla already in the right lane.

The impact caused the Corolla to hit the curb on the bridge, with the car spinning across the median before being hit by another vehicle.

Sheldon was the passenger in the vehicle. The driver, an 83-year-old man, suffered serious injuries, officials said.

Myers was arrested as officials suspected he was operating under the influence of drugs, officials said.
