Joe's good humored nature comes out in the Merchant's style.

Joe and Beverly Dunn opened the in November of 2004. Known for it's eclectic cuisine featuring local ingredients to live music, it's a mainstay on Hyannis' Main Street.

Q: What did you dream of being as a kid?

A: Carleton Fisk of the Red Sox (Catcher).

A: We kinda go against the flow, I guess I do too.

Q: At what moment did you decide to open a business?  

A: We were in NYC, doing an event at the James Beard House with friends. After that weekend we knew it was time.

A: My wife.

Q: Describe the biggest challenge of owning a business in the town of Barnstable?

A: The shortness of the high season.

Q: Describe the best thing about owning a business in the town of Barnstable?

A: The diversity of all the villages

Q: What is one thing you would never change about your business?

A: Being closed on Tuesdays.

Q: What is your business’ greatest asset?  

A: Our staff.

Q: What is your favorite spot in town?

A: The Bar at the Hyannis Yacht Club. Mark Minahan and crew have great food and the view is killer.

Q: What’s one thing the community should know about you?

A: Boxers not briefs.
