7-Foot Shark Found Stranded Off Cape Cod
A 7-foot shark stranded itself near Chatham's Ryder's Cove Boatyard.
CHATHAM, MA — A shark died Friday after stranding itself in Chatham. The 7-foot Porbeagle shark was found near Ryder's Cove Boatyard, according to the Atlantic White Shark Conservancy. State wildlife officials attempted to rescue the shark but it later died.

Porbeagle shark populations have been decimated by commercial fishing since the 1960s and while it is not endangered, it is listed as a "species of concern" by federal officials.
