After Car Hits Gas Pump, Sparks Fire, Charges Pending On Cape Cod

A fire started at a Yarmouth gas station after a sedan hit a fuel pump on Monday night, officials said. The driver could face charges.

YARMOUTH, MA — The driver of a car that hit a fuel pump and started a small fire on Cape Cod ended up in the hospital, but that could be just the start of their problems.

Yarmouth Police are investigating after a sedan crashed into a gas pump Monday night in Yarmouth Port and ignited a fire. The crash, which took out the pump at its base, happened just after 9:30 p.m. at the Sav-On gas station on Route 6A at the Union Street intersection.

Yarmouth Fire crews quickly extinguished a small fire and attended to a fluid spill.

Now, charges are pending for the 31-year-old driver who was transported to Cape Cod Hospital for treatment.
