HYANNIS, MA — An ambulance rushing a patient to Cape Cod Hospital was broadsided by another vehicle Wednesday night at Route 28 and Yarmouth Road.
While no one was injured, the Truro Fire Department ambulance crew had to quickly find another way of transporting their patient.
Responders from the Hyannis Fire Department stepped in and brought the patient the short remaining distance to the hospital, the Hyannis News reported. The patient was being moved there with a serious but non-life-threatening medical issue.
At the time of the crash, around 7:30 p.m., the Truro ambulance was displaying its emergency lights. A sedan driven by an unidentified woman “T-boned” the emergency vehicle, according to the newspaper.
