CAPE COD, MA — Police have arrested a Hyannis man they believe has been distributing cocaine across the Cape.
Alex Fraga, 34, faces a drug trafficking charge after investigators on Friday conducted simultaneous searches of his home and two other addresses, seizing roughly 10 pounds of cocaine and $125,000 in cash, a statement said.
While executing the search warrants, police stopped Fraga in his car and found him in possession of another 100 grams of the illegal drug.
The bust follows a months-long investigation by the Barnstable Police Narcotics Unit into cocaine distribution throughout the town and other communities nearby. “Fraga was identified as a source of supply for cocaine on Cape Cod,” the statement Friday evening said.
Police did not estimate the street value of the cocaine that was seized. But the total of roughly 4.6 kilograms could be worth more than $100,000, based on values in other recent cases.
Friday's searches were conducted by a team of local, county, state and federal investigators.
Fraga was held without bail and was scheduled for arraignment Tuesday in Barnstable District Court.
