BARNSTABLE, MA —Major improvements could be coming to the east end of Main Street in Hyannis as Barnstable officials consider a multimillion-dollar state grant.
On Thursday, Oct. 15, the Barnstable Town Council is scheduled to discuss a $2.275 million grant that would support streetscape improvements along the popular downtown corridor.
If approved, the grant would allow the town to contract for the proposed work and spend the funds on improvements.
The potential investment comes as Barnstable continues its efforts to improve downtown Hyannis streets and public spaces, including work associated with the broader Great Streets initiative.
While the project could bring changes to the area, no construction start date has been announced.
According to a Facebook post by the town, the grant is one of three funding proposals scheduled for discussion. The council will also consider funding for the town's 911 communications center.
The council is scheduled to meet at 6 p.m.
