BARNSTABLE, MA —Motorists planning to cross the Bourne Bridge on Tuesday may want to give themselves some extra travel time as maintenance work is expected to cause traffic delays.
From 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., northbound traffic heading off Cape Cod will be restricted to one lane while crews perform maintenance on the bridge.
Although the lane restriction could slow down the morning commute, the work is expected to be completed by Tuesday afternoon.
During the maintenance work, both southbound lanes and the bridge's sidewalk will remain open, allowing traffic and pedestrians to continue crossing.
Motorists should also be aware that wide loads will not be permitted to cross the bridge while maintenance is underway.
