Barnstable 2018 Primary Election Guide

Here's what you need to know about the Sept. 4 primary.

BARNSTABLE, MA – Barnstable residents will vote in one of two primary races next Tuesday. In the Fifth Barnstable District, incumbent state Rep. Randy Hunt faces a challenger in Ronald R. Beaty, Jr. for the Republican nomination. That winner will face off against Democratic candidate Jack Stanton in the general election Nov. 6.

In the First Barnstable District, Steven Leibowitz and Joshua Mason are vying for the Democratic nomination. The winner will go up against incumbent Republican state Rep. Timothy Whelan.

Election Day

In Massachusetts, voters who designated a party when they registered to vote can only vote in that party's primary. Unaffiliated voters can choose which party's primary they want to vote in at the polling.
