Barnstable Awards $12K In Grants To 20 Organizations

BARNSTABLE, MA — The next time you go to a local event in Barnstable, you may be able to thank your local government.

Barnstable has awarded a total of $12,000 in Tourism Mini-Grants to 20 civic and non-profit organizations that are producing and promoting events this upcoming year.

Organizations receiving funding range from art centers and museums to athletic organizations and public libraries.

The program is designed to assist the town’s seven villages in supporting events and festivals that draw visitors to Barnstable. It is funded through a portion of local room tax revenues.

Here are the organizations that received funding this year:

• Barnstable Land Trust (40th Anniversary Celebration)
• Cahoon Museum of American Art (Cahoon in Bloom)
• Cape Cod Art Center (75th Anniversary Celebration Series)
• Cape Cod Maritime Museum (History on Tap)
• Centerville Civic Association (New website)
• Centerville Historical Museum (3rd Annual Antique and Vintage Car Show)
• Centerville Public Library (Centerville Old Home Week)
• Cotuit Library Association (Cotuit Harvest Festival)
• Cotuit-Santuit Civic Association (4th of July Parade)
• Greater Hyannis Civic Association (Santa’s Boat Parade)
• Hyannis Athletic Association (Hyannis Harbor Hawks Downtown Marketing Plan)
• Hyannis Film Festival (Movies on Main)
• Hyannis JFK Museum (JFK 1963 Exhibit)
• Hyannis Public library (Literacy Series)
