Barnstable Fire Department Awarded $16K Grant
Two Massachusetts Fire Departments were selected to receive federal funding.

The Barnstable Fire Department and the Dennis Fire Department were selected as Department of Homeland Security grant recipients on Friday, Sept. 12.
The grants will be used to increase the safety of both Barnstable and Dennis’ firefighters and residents.
“Our firefighters work tirelessly each and every day for us, and it is essential that we do all that we can in order to help them as they provide essential services to our community,” Congressman Bill Keating said.

Barnstable Fire Department received $16,388 in Assistance to Firefighter Grants to purchase firefighter tools and equipment.
The new tools and equipment will improve the safety and effectiveness of the Barnstable Fire Department, Barnstable Deputy Fire Chief Peter J. Burke, Jr. said.

“The Barnstable Fire District is thankful for the support of federal programs that allow for the purchase of much needed equipment and funding for critical training,” Burke said.
The Dennis Fire Department received $31,309 in grants by Fire Prevention and Safety Awards for fire safety education programming.
The fire department will use the grants to meet its goal of fire prevention measures geared towards towards senior citizens, Dennis Fire Chief Mark Dellner said.
