HYANNIS, MA — A late Friday night fire at the Hyannis Home Depot location is under investigation, fire officials said.

The fire department was dispatched to the 65 Independence Dr. store around 11:50 p.m. on Friday.

While units were on the way to the scene, the Barnstable County Sheriff's Office Dispatch Center shared that reports from the scene said flames were visible in the area of the tool rental maintenance room, prompting additional aid to the scene.

Officials eventually forced entry into that maintenance room, where they were able to knock down the fire with a single hose line, officials said.

A "significant" amount of smoke prompted ventilation efforts throughout the east end of the store.
