Barnstable Police Rescue Unconscious Woman In Centerville Fire
Emergency crews first became aware of the fire when a newspaper delivery person saw the Centerville house in flames.
BARNSTABLE, MA — Four Barnstable police officers rescued an unconscious elderly woman they found inside a burning Centerville home Tuesday morning.
Emergency crews first became aware of the fire around 3:20 a.m., when a newspaper delivery person reported a single family home in flames in the 800th block of Shootflying Hill Road, fire officials said.
Four police officers were first to arrive and found a 69-year-old woman unconscious inside the house. Officials said the officers resuscitated the woman while waiting for firefighters and paramedics to arrive.

Fire officials said the woman was taken to a Boston hospital and is in serious condition. The four police officers were evaluated at Cape Cod Hospital for smoke inhalation and have since been released.
The exact cause of the fire remains under investigation.
