Barnstable Police Welcome New Officers: ICYMI
Congrats to Barnstable's newest police officers!
BARNSTABLE, MA — Eight new Barnstable police officers recently joined the force. Police Chief Paul MacDonald on Friday swore in the new officers, which include several veterans and a fourth-generation police officer.
The recruits recently completed 24 weeks of training at Plymouth Academy. They will now begin three months of field training before being cleared for solo patrol.

- Daniel Nugent is a United States Marine Corps veteran who served in Afghanistan. Officer Nugent is working towards a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice. Officer Nugent resides in Centerville with his wife and three children.
- Michael Lima is a United States Army combat veteran who served in Iraq. Officer Lima has been an employee of the town since 2004. Officer Lima resides in Cotuit and has one daughter.
- Anthony D’Angelo is a member of the United States Air National Guard. Officer D’Angelo received a Bachelor of Arts in Education from Bridgewater State University and a Master’s Degree in Business Administration from the University of Massachusetts at Dartmouth. Officer D’Angelo resides in Hyannis.
- David Heise is a United States Army combat veteran who served in Iraq and multiple tours in Afghanistan. Officer Heise is a member of the Army National Guard. Officer Heise resides in Hyannis with his wife and two children.
- Gustavo Eloy is a United States Marine Corps combat veteran who served in Iraq and Afghanistan. Officer Eloy is working towards an Associate’s Degree in Criminal Justice. Officer Eloy resides in West Barnstable and is married with 2 young children.
- Jacob White is a United States Air Force veteran who served in Iraq. Officer White received an Associate’s degree in Criminal Justice from the Community College of the Air Force. Officer White resides in Marstons Mills with his wife.
- Matthew Melia is a fourth-generation police officer. Officer Melia received a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice from Bridgewater State University. Officer Melia resides in Centerville.
- Nicholas Atcheson is a former Barnstable Police Department intern and an Eagle Scout. Officer Atcheson received a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice from Westfield State University. Officer Atcheson resides in Marstons Mills.
