Barnstable Public Schools Closed Monday After Weekend Blizzard

The storm saw nearly two feet of snow hit Cape Cod, and left tens of thousands of people without power.

BARNSTABLE, MA — Barnstable Public Schools will be closed Monday, following the weekend blizzard hitting the region.

"We hope this message finds you and your family well after this weekend's blizzard," Superintendent Meg Mayo-Brown said in a statement. "All Barnstable Public Schools will be closed on Monday, January 31. We look forward to welcoming our students and staff back on Tuesday, February 1."

The storm saw nearly two feet of snow hit Cape Cod, and left tens of thousands of people without power.

As of 6:45 p.m., Sunday, 3,450 Eversource customers in Barnstable remained in the dark. Eversource estimated most people will have their power back by the end of the day on Monday.
