Barnstable Public Schools Select Finalists For Superintendent

Learn more about the four finalists to be Barnstable's next superintendent.

BARNSTABLE, MA — Barnstable Public Schools narrowed down its superintendent search to four finalists.

Superintendent Meg Mayo-Brown told the school committee earlier this year that she will not seek a new contract when it expires on June 30, 2022. She took a job as the executive director for Innovators Charter School in New Bedford.

The Barnstable Superintendent Search Subcommittee interviewed candidates in December and narrowed the list down to the following four finalists:

  • Sara Ahern
  • Scott Carpenter
  • June Saba-Maguire
  • David Younce

Ahern is the superintendent for Franklin Public Schools. She received her doctorate in educational administration from Boston College and her master's in medical school from the University of Massachusetts.

Carpenter is the superintendent of the Monomy Regional School District. He received his doctorate in education from Northeastern University and also has master’s degrees from Harvard University, Boston University and Lehigh University.

Saba-Maguire is the chief academic officer for Brockton Public Schools. She has her doctorate in educational leadership from Boston College, a certificate of advanced graduate study from Bridgewater State University and her master's from Cambridge College.

Younce is the superintendent for the Mill River Unified Union School District in Vermont. He has is master's in educational leadership from Aurora University.

The committee said final interviews will be conducted in January
