Barnstable Second Summer Fireworks Return Over Labor Day Weekend
Fireworks viewing will be held at Kalmus Beach with several other events scheduled for Aug. 31. Here's what to know.
BARNSTABLE, MA — The Second Summer Celebration in Barnstable is back this Labor Day weekend.
Events are scheduled for Aug. 31 from 5 to 9 p.m. with a rain date of Sept. 1.
Fireworks viewing will be held at Kalmus Beach. The beach parking lot will open to the public at 4 p.m. with free parking.

The Little Sandwich Shop Concessions Stand will stay open late and there will be novelty vendors selling light-up toys, officials said.
"Parking is limited so please arrive early to ensure you get a space," they added.

The HyArts Artist Shanties will be open during the day at Bismore Park Ocean Street and the Harbor Overlook, as will the usual businesses on Main Street Hyannis.
At 8:25 p.m., Kevin Matthews from iHeart Media will be joined by a special guest from the Barnstable Public School District as they countdown to Second Summer and the fireworks show over Lewis Bay. The show begins around 8:30 p.m.
Fireworks aren't the only draw to Second Summer, however.
A beach dance party will take place at Veterans Park Beach in collaboration with the Hyannis Yacht Club.
DJ Ian Lee will host the party while a prize giveaway and countdown to Second Summer will be ongoing.
Movement Arts Cape Cod will host a showcase at Aselton Park that kicks off at 5 p.m. That will immediately follow the Amplify POC Cape Cod Vendor Fair on the Hyannis Village Green.
