Barnstable Sewer Expansion Shifts To Overnight Hours, Prompts Route 28 Detour

The ongoing Route 28 project is pivoting to off-peak hours starting this week. Here's what to know.

BARNSTABLE, MA — The ongoing Route 28 sewer expansion project will continue, but working hours are set to change this week.

Starting Monday, the sewer installation within the Route 28 roadway transitioned to off-peak, overnight hours. Construction will occur during the hours of 7 p.m. to 6 a.m., weather permitting.

During this time, a full detour of Route 28 traffic, from Phinney’s Lane to Strawberry Hill Road, will be necessary to safely complete the work.
