Barnstable Superior Court Judge Retiring
The "judge's judge" is retiring after 20 years in the Superior Court.

BARNSTABLE, MA – A Barnstable Superior Court judge with over 40 years' experience in law is retiring at the end of the month. Judge Gary Nickerson, 69, will officially retire in August, but his last day is Wednesday, according to the Cape Cod Times.
Nickerson became a Superior Court judge 20 years ago after a decades-long career as a prosecutor and defense attorney. In an interview with the Times, Chief Justice of the Superior Court Judith Fabricant described him as an even-tempered "judge's judge" and "lawyer's judge" who cares about the law and the people involved in his cases.
The mandatory retirement age for Superior Court judges is 70. Nickerson told the times he's very happy with his job, but "it’s time for a fresh face, a fresh set of ideas.”
