Bystander Helps Pull Woman From Burning Car On Cape Cod
The quick thinking of a police officer and passing driver saved a woman in Marstons Mills Thursday.
MARSTONS MILLS, MA — The quick thinking of a Barnstable police officer and passerby saved a woman from a burning car in Marstons Mills Thursday, according to reports. Police found the car on its roof in the area of Osterville-West Barnstable Road and Woodside Drive around 10:15 a.m. The engine was on fire, WHDH reported.
An officer and nearby driver pulled her from the car, according to the Cape Cod Times. The woman, a 31-year-old Osterville resident, had a cut on her head but was conscious and speaking.
Police said she drifted into the southbound lane while trying to and off-road, where she hit a stump and rolled over. She was cited for failure to stay within marked lanes and impeded operation, as investigators believe she was putting items into her purse and took her eyes off the road, according to WHDH.
