The Singing Tuba: Expanding the Voice of the Low Brass

Hyannis HyArts Campus,  Corner of South Street and Pearl Street, Hyannis, MA 

Turn fresh inspiration into glass in this fun, hands-on soft glass workshop! Students will design and create fruit-inspired beads, learning how to shape and control molten glass to form recognizable, playful designs.
You’ll explore how to build and refine forms directly on the mandrel, adding details and dimension to bring your fruit to life. From simple shapes to more expressive designs, the class encourages creativity while strengthening your control and intention with soft glass. For those who want to experiment further, you’ll also have the option to work off the mandrel for more sculptural forms.
This class is a perfect blend of skill-building and imagination, resulting in a collection of charming, colorful glass fruits to take home.
Safety &amp; What to Expect
This class will be held at our Hyannis HyArts Campus Flamework Studio
Working with molten glass requires attention to safety at all times. All participants must wear 100% cotton or linen clothing (no synthetic fabrics), along with closed-toe shoes. Long hair must be tied back securely before class.
Protective eyewear will be provided to help you safely view the flame and glowing glass during the workshop.
All pieces created during class must cool slowly in a kiln overnight to ensure durability and prevent cracking. The Center for the Spiritual Journey is sponsoring a Summer Series of guided labyrinth walks every Monday evening at 5:00pm. Join us! The labyrinth is an ancient and artistic circular pattern found in many cultures and places around the world. It provides a meditative walk to the center and back out again.

The Chatham Labyrinth is located in Chase Park on the other side of the Gristmill nestled in at the far end of the park with a lovely Peace Garden nearby. 

From Main St., turn on to Cross St. (the Methodist Church is on the Corner), bear left at Shattuck Place and follow to the parking lot. The path to the Labyrinth is handicap-accessible. There is no charge (donations are always welcome to help with upkeep) and all are welcome.
