BARNSTABLE, MA — A U.S. Coast Guard crew rescued six stranded duck hunter who got trapped on a marsh near Barnstable Harbor.
The hunters got stranded Saturday morning after their boat got stuck on the marsh when the tide went out. Fearing the cold and knowing the next high tide wouldn't happen until later that night, the hunters called for help, Coast Guard officials said.
At first, Barnstable, West Barnstable and Sandwich fire officials tried to rescue the hunters, but they couldn't because of rough seas, low tides and mechanical issues.
