Cape Cod Beach Closed After Great White Shark Sighting

The beach will reopen after an hour barring any more sightings close to shore.

WELLFLEET, MA — A shark sighting temporarily closed a Cape Cod beach Monday, officials said. Swimmers at Marconi Beach in Wellfleet were ordered out of the water after a lifeguard spotted a shark offshore, according to the Atlantic White Shark Conservancy.

The sighting happened at 11:46 a.m. The beach will reopen at 12:46 a.m. barring any future sightings.
