Cape Cod Bus Driver Arraigned After Indecent Assault On Female Student
The 80-year-old driver was arraigned Thursday, but released from jail with conditions that he stay away from schools and minors.

BARNSTABLE, MA — An 80-year-old Cape Cod school bus driver was arraigned on charges that he committed indecent assault against a teenage female student.
The Cape and Islands District attorney announced that Jeffrey Hyland, of West Yarmouth, was arraigned in the Barnstable District Court on Thursday on charges of aggravated indecent assault and battery and reckless endangerment of child.
At about 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, the Barnstable Police received a report of an alleged indecent assault and battery on a juvenile female by her male bus driver.

Upon further investigation, the department recovered corroborating evidence of the alleged incident. Hyland was arrested and held overnight at the police department on $ 5,000 bail, officials said.
Barnstable police will continue their investigation into the allegations, officials said.

Officials requested a $10,000 cash bail for Hyland along with conditions that he doesn't contact the victim, doesn't make contact with minors under 18, stays away from schools and is monitored by GPS.
Hyland was released on personal recognizance with no cash bail, but the conditions stood. He is due back in court on Dec. 7 for a probable cause hearing.
