Cape Cod College Student Hit By Car On Rt. 132

A student at Cape Cod Community College was struck in front of the West Barnstable campus Tuesday morning.

WEST BARNSTABLE, MA — A student at Cape Cod Community College was hit by a car while crossing Route 132 in front of the West Barnstable campus Tuesday morning, police said. Officers responded to the scene around 8:15 a.m. and were told by witnesses the student was conscious and alert.

Police said the student, an 18-year-old Carver woman, was in the crosswalk when she was struck by a 2012 Toyota Corolla heading south on Route 132 toward Hyannis and thrown several feet. She was taken to South Shore Hospital with injuries to the left side of her body.

The driver of the Corolla, 20-year-old Milenna Rodrigues, of Centerville, was charged with operating without a license, operating to endanger, operating an unregistered motor vehicle and a crosswalk violation. She was taken to Cape Cod Hospital for an unknown medical problem, according to police.
