Cape Cod Cop Faces Child Porn Charges

A Brewster police officer is on leave from the department after charges were issued this week that he possessed and disseminated child porn.

BREWSTER, MA — A Cape Cod police officer is on administrative leave following the filing of child pornography charges, the Cape and Islands District Attorney's Office said.

Matthew Marshall was arrested on Wednesday after the completion of his shift by members of the Massachusetts State Police Cyber Crimes Unit/Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force.

Marshall is charged with possession of child pornography, dissemination of child pornography, defacement of real or personal property, unlawful communication of record information and photos taken outside of first responder’s official duties, officials said.

Brewster Police Chief Heath Eldredge immediately suspended Marshall's license to carry a firearm, secured his service weapon and placed him on administrative leave.

Marshall will be arraigned on Thursday.
