Cape Cod Diver Missing; Coast Guard Search Ongoing

The Coast Guard said an 80-year-old man diving off Provincetown Wednesday

PROVINCETOWN, MA — An 80-year-old diver went missing off Provincetown Wednesday, triggering a Coast Guard search. The man was reported missing from the Boston Whaler dive boat at about 11 a.m. when he became detached from his dive flag, Coast Guard officials said in a statement.

"At last contact, the experienced diver reported he had 30-35 minutes remaining on his oxygen tank," Coast Guard officials said in a statement. "He was diving in about 35 feet of water."

The diver has 50 years experience, officials said. The search effort included a Coast Guard boat, Coast Guard helicopter, state Environmental police, the local harbormaster, dive teams from Yarmouth and Brewster and Good Samaritans.
