YARMOUTH, MA — A fire that damaged a West Yarmouth home Tuesday was caused by the "careless" disposal of smoking materials, fire officials said. Crews went to Marion Road around 1:15 p.m. and found the attic on fire.

The blaze was brought under control after about 20 minutes, according to the department. Large parts of the living and dining room ceiling were removed to check for additional flames.

All occupants were out of the home by the time firefighters arrived. No injuries were reported.
