Cape Cod Man Accidentally Shot Himself: Police

YARMOUTH, MA – A Cape Cod man was hospitalized Monday afternoon after accidentally shooting himself, police said. The man called police to the Buck Island Condominiums in West Yarmouth around 2:30 p.m. and said he shot himself in the hand.

The man was airlifted to a hospital in Boston due to the extent of his injury, according to police. He is properly licensed to own a gun, and the weapon is lawfully registered, police said.

Investigators are treating the case as an accidental shooting.
