Cape Cod Man Admits To Brutally Beating Man In 2016 Home Invasion
The victim needed several surgeries for two brain injuries, a fractured hand bone, a lacerated liver and an eye injury.
BARNSTABLE, MA — A Cape Cod man admitted to brutally beating a sleeping man during a Centerville home invasion in 2016, the Cape and Islands District Attorney's Office said Wednesday.
Jovanne Monteiro, 31, of Osterville, pleaded guilty in Barnstable Superior Court to home invasion, armed burglary and assault, assault to maim, assault to murder, mayhem aggravated assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, and six counts of conspiracy, 99.9 Cape Cod reported. Monteiro was sentenced to six to 12 years in prison with five years probation.
Authorities said the beating and break-in happened in September 2016 at a Centerville Home. Police told the Cape Cod Times Alexa Fencher, 21, of West Yarmouth, planned the assault and enlisted Monteiro and Bryan Carlander, 23, of Centerville to beat the man with a crow bar.

Fencher pleaded guilty in December 2021 and was sentenced to eight to 10 years in prison with three years probation.
