Cape Cod Man Banned From School; Asked Students How to Get Puppy: Police
Yarmouth police said a man was banned from the St. Pius School after exhibiting bizarre behavior.

YARMOUTH, MA — A Cape Cod man was banned from a Yarmouth school after police said he approached students and asked them about "obtaining a puppy." The incident happened Thursday at the St. Pius School, a Catholic elementary school.
School officials and an "alert parent" called police and said the man was on school property acting suspicious.
"(The suspect) attempted to gain access to the school to speak with students about how to obtain a puppy," police said in a statement. "After being confronted by alert school personnel the man left the property and drove away."

Police said they caught up with the man who admitted to the behavior but said he had no "criminal intent."
Police said the suspect has no criminal record. He was not charged but he was issued a "trespass warning" and banned from the school property.

"The Yarmouth Police Department commends school officials and the alert parent for their prompt response to the suspicious incident and reminds all citizens to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity or persons by calling 911," police said in a statement.
