Cape Cod Man Charged With Drug Trafficking, Armed Robbery: Police

A Sandwich man is charged with cocaine trafficking and armed robbery out of Boston, Yarmouth police said.

HYANNIS, MA — The Cape Cod Regional SWAT Team was called in to assist Yarmouth police in apprehending a Cape Cod man charged with drug trafficking and an armed robbery out of Boston.

Yarmouth police announced the arrest of Dempsey Allen, 26, of Sandwich, Mass., on Wednesday. Officials located Allen at a Hyannis Best Western, where he tried to evade police, leading them on a foot chase.

Allen was eventually arrested in a wooded area near the Attucks Lane hotel, officials said.

He faces numerous charges, including failure to appear on drug possession charges from the Sandwich Police Department.

The Boston Police Department also had an arrest warrant for Allen on the charges of assault and battery, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, armed robbery and drug possession and trafficking, according to police.

Yarmouth Police Proactive Anti-Crime Team and detectives were assisted by the Massachusetts State Police Violent Fugitive Apprehension Section (VFAS) along with members of the Cape Cod Regional SWAT Team in making two arrests on Wednesday, including that of Allen, officials said.
