Cape Cod Man Convicted Of Gun, Drug Charges

Police searched a Hyannis storage unit in 2015 and found a gun, ammunition, cocaine and items related to drug dealing.

HARWICH, MA – A Harwich man was convicted of gun and drug offenses in federal court in Boston Monday in connection with a search of a Hyannis storage unit in 2015, the U.S. Attorney's office said. Timothy Fletcher, 36, was found guilty of one count of possession of cocaine with intent to distribute and one count of being a felon in possession of a firearm and ammunition.

Police searched the storage unit on April 3, 2015 and four a .45-caliber Tisas model semiautomatic pistol, 58 rounds of .45-caliber ammunition and 60 rounds of 9-mm ammunition hidden inside various sneakers and sneaker boxes, authorities said. They also found crack cocaine, powder cocaine, $1,420 in cash, drug paraphernalia, two digital scales, boxes of plastic sandwich baggies, approximately 223 pairs of sneakers and various documents with Fletcher's name on them, according to the USAO. Some of the drugs were hidden inside the sneaker boxes as well.

Fletcher's fingerprints were found on a magazine inside a sneaker box with the semiautomatic pistol and he had the key to the storage facility and unit when he was stopped by police the night before the search, authorities said. Fletcher was arrested and charged in December 2015 and has been in custody ever since.

Sentencing has been scheduled for Oct. 23. The charge of being a felon in possession carries a mandatory minimum sentence of 15 years and up to a lifetime in prison, a minimum of five years and up to a lifetime of supervised release and a fine of $250,000.

Each drug charge carries a sentence of no greater than 30 years in prison, three years of supervised release and a fine of $2 million. Sentences are imposed by a federal district court judge based upon the U.S. Sentencing Guidelines and other statutory factors.
