Cape Cod Man Faces Multiple Gun, Drug Charges

Two people were spotted walking around a Hyannis neighborhood with ski masks and a duffel bag. One was recently indicted.

BARNSTABLE, MA — A Hyannis man is charged with firearms and drug offenses after police officers found two men walking around the homes near Fresh Holes Road wearing ski masks and carrying a duffle bag.

On June 2, Timothy Galvin Jr., 31, of Hyannis, was taken into custody and charged with multiple firearms, narcotics and other criminal charges.

Officers encountered the two masked men around 9:55 p.m. on June 2, and Galvin and the other person immediately fled on foot, police said. Officers were able to catch Galvin during the incident and take him into custody.

Galvin dropped several items during the pursuit, including two loaded large-capacity firearms — one of which was affixed with a laser sight — a loaded 50-round magazine, ammunition and six grams of Fentanyl, police said.

Galvin was arraigned at the Barnstable District Court on June 5 and charged with:

  • Possession of a loaded firearm without a license
  • Possession of a large-capacity firearm
  • Possession of a large-capacity feeding device
  • Possession of ammunition without an FID card
  • Firearm violation with three prior violent or drug crimes
  • Possession of class A substance (Fentanyl) with intent to distribute

After his arraignment, Galvin was ordered held on dangerousness.
